Liquamen
Rome drank it before it marched. So can you.
In the warehouses of Ostia, amphorae of garum โ fish and sea salt, fermented slowly in the sun โ were traded like currency across Rome, Greece, Phoenicia and Carthage. Cut with water, it was what a legionary drank before he marched. Hannibal is said to have quaffed it on the morning of Cannae.
We age ours, temper it with spring water, honey and thyme, and put it under pressure. Two thousand years is a long enough trial.
